Vote Center, Drop Boxes Temporarily Unavailable Due to Garden Grove Emergency Evacuation Orders

SANTA ANA, Calif. – May 22, 2026 – Due to evacuation orders currently in place around the Garden Grove hazardous materials incident, the following Orange County Registrar of Voters Vote Center will not be operational on Saturday, May 23 until further notice:

  • Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, 13641 Deodara Dr., Garden Grove

This City building is serving as a care and shelter facility for the community to assist those displaced by the incident.

The following Ballot Drop Boxes located within the evacuation area will also be unavailable until further notice:

  • Stanton Branch Library, 7850 Katella Ave., Stanton
  • Korean Martyrs Catholic Center, 7655 Trask Ave., Westminster
  • Chapman Sports Park, 11700 Knott Ave., Garden Grove  

All voters, including those displaced by the evacuation, may visit any of the 38 Vote Centers that will be open on May 23 in Orange County to cast their ballot. Any evacuated voter who does not have their ballot, may request a replacement ballot at any Vote Center.

The Vote Center closest to the Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center will be:  

  • Miriam Warne Community Building, 14491 Beach Blvd., Westminster

Voters may use any of the 125 available Ballot Drop Boxes to cast their ballot or can cast their ballot by mail. A complete list of Vote Center and Ballot Drop Box locations is available at ocvote.gov/voting.

Registrar of Voters is actively monitoring the situation to determine whether additional voting operations will be impacted.  

Updates will be posted to Registrar of Voters social media channels and website at ocvote.gov as information becomes available.
