» June Primary Election Just Over 24 Hours Away       Here we are again for yet another election in Orange County.  While we are working to replace last minute cancellations the majority of you have been trained and your supplies have been picked up.  While there is a great deal of information presented to you during training, remember that the basic process of running a poll site is relatively straightforward.  Please take just a few moments to read some important and useful information in this Election Day newsletter that should help you.  Have a great election and thanks for your service!

Neal Kelley, Registrar of Voters

» Combination to Open Your eSlate Caddy               In order to remove the voting booths from the caddy you will need to know the combination for the lock. The combination has been redacted for the Internet version of this newsletter .Your eSlate booths have been delivered to your poll site directly.  We encourage, whenever possible, all Inspectors to set up your poll site Monday night (with the exception of your JBC).

» Paper Ballot Reminders for Election Day         Before processing voters, you must complete the first line of the Ballot Statement. The form asks for the “total number of all paper ballots from ROV”. You will find this number on the coversheet, shrink-wrapped with the stack of ballots. There should be plenty of paper ballots for you to get through the day, but please remember to call if you begin to run low.  Because the ballot for this election is printed on legal-size paper, you will need to instruct the voter to fold the ballot in half so that it can fit inside the secrecy folder.

» Reminder of Decline-to-State Options for Voters
Decline-to-State (nonpartisan) voters have four different ballot options for Tuesday’s primary: American Independent, Democratic, Republican or Nonpartisan. To help inform these voters of their choices, post the Ballot Options Chart on the Official Table. This is an excellent resource to remind you of the ballots these voters are eligible to request. Keep in mind that voters who are affiliated with a political party (not Decline-to-State) can only request a ballot for the party listed on their registration.  Any voter who insists on voting outside of his/her party may vote provisionally.

» Packing Supplies the Right Way on Election Night

After closing the polls it is important to load all supplies back into the supply box according to the instructions on your packing list. The ONLY items that should be outside of the box are: the JBC box, the VVPAT printer bags, the bag of electrical equipment, your County cell phone and the H-rod sign posts.  When you are done loading all other supplies into the Supply Box, remember to seal the box. Finally, put the JBC Chain of Custody inside the JBC box.  This will speed up the process for you at your collection center.
