» 32 Year Election Veteran Karen Boardman Retiring
Karen’s responsibilities over the last few years included overseeing the recruitment of public facilities to be used as poll sites; hiring of collection center personnel; processing of payroll; and assisting with the revision of poll worker materials for training. She started with the Department in 1974. Few individuals care more deeply for the elections process than Karen Boardman. She has been invaluable to the team and she will truly be missed.

» How Will Voters Vote Differently in This Primary Than in a Regular Primary?

Five candidates have qualified for the November 17th ballot.  Although this is a primary election there is an important distinction between this special election and a regularly scheduled primary. In a regular primary election voters that have chosen a political party vote for candidates in their party on a separate party ballot. All of the candidates in this election will be on the same ballot and voters, regardless of party, can vote for any one of them.

» Important Note on Voting Booth Allocation to Your Poll Site                                                                     In the past every poll site in Orange County received the exact same number of booths. But not every polling place is equal and the standard number equated to lines at some poll sites while other booths sat idle.  In 2006 we changed the way we allocated booths to take into account historical turnout data. Elections that are not countywide will allow us to provide more booths to poll sites that may not normally need it.  Remember - even if it is slow in your precinct we are always preparing for a larger turnout.
