The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until August 13, 2008, 5:00 p.m. for the offices below, because the incumbents failed to file nomination papers by the August 8, 2008 deadline.
Accuracy testing of Orange County’s voting system will take place June 17, 2008 for the June 24, 2008 Capistrano Unified School District Special Recall Election. The Logic and Accuracy test is required by law to be performed prior to each election.

The Registrar of Voters announced today that the declaration of intention period
for candidates for judicial offices of the Superior Court has been extended
until February 11, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
The Registrar of Voters will launch streaming video of Election Night activity
in our office in time for Super Tuesday. The public will be able to access
three separate views on our website of the hectic pace on Tuesday night as
supplies, paper ballots and returns are processed.

IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR DECLINE-TO-STATE VOTERS
The Orange County Registrar of Voters sends an urgent
reminder to decline to state (also known as non-partisan) voters that they may
request a Democratic Party ballot or American Independent Party ballot. If they
do not choose in their poll site they will be issued a non-partisan ballot
that contains only state propositions and local measures and contests.
The Registrar of Voters will host a large poll worker practice session under a tent in our parking lot at Grand and McFadden Avenues in Santa Ana on Saturday, February 2nd. Hundreds of poll workers are expected to attend this hands-on session where they can receive additional instruction prior to Election Day.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters will open its doors this weekend to allow voters an opportunity to vote prior to Election Day. All voters registered to vote in Orange County are invited.
The CUSD Recall Committee delivered recall petitions to the Registrar of Voters today in an effort to force a recall election against trustees Sheila Benecke and Marlene Draper from the Capistrano Unified School District Board.
The Orange County Grand Jury released its report this week regarding Orange County’s election process. They determined that Orange County voters can trust the election safeguards put in place by the Registrar of Voters.

The Orange County Registrar of Voters announced it will stay open until
midnight accepting voter registrations until 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters kicks-off Early Voting for the February 5, 2008 Presidential Primary at ten locations on January 20, 2008.
Registered voters that have declined to state a party affiliation (DTS) have ballot options available to them.
Provisional voters include those that are not registered to vote or not at the correct polling place. More than 60% of all provisional ballots cast are from from out of state voters or those who are not registered at all. This causes congestion at poll sites where voters are voting in their home precinct.
